Welcome to Tuscany, Italy!
Where the air is fresh, the wine is crisp, and the love is abundant...
The wedding weekend at Le Filigare Villa starts on Friday, May 29 and goes through Monday June 1
Le Filigare Villa is about 1 hour from Florence!
If you are traveling to Europe right before the wedding weekend, we STRONGLY recommend arriving in Italy on Thursday morning (departure on Wednesday from the USA) to give yourself one day to beat jet lag, settle into the Italian lifestyle, and avoid any delays. The local time at the destination is 6 hours ahead of our current time! If you are deciding to extend your trip before and after, there are so many options! Reach out to Ashley or Joe if you want help planning or brainstorming a good plan.
Another great option is to fly into Rome and explore the city before heading to Florence. The high speed train is amazing and very affordable! There are many direct flights from USA to Rome.
Recommended airports to fly into:
FLORENCE, ITALY (FLR)
Florence (FLR) Airport is the closest to the venue at about a 1 hour drive. Right now there are no direct flights into FLR so a connection is necessary.
ROME, ITALY (FCO)
Rome, Italy (FCO) is about a 3.5 hour drive or about 1.5 hour high speed train ride, if you wanted to travel up the coast of Italy prior to the wedding weekend. There are direct flights into Rome from the US, so this may be an good option if that is your preference!
* Friendly reminder to check your passport expiration date. Six months validity recommended, at least 3 months validity beyond your planned date of departure per Italy’s guidelines.
Recommended accommodations:
There are various accommodations close to Le Filigare! Some of the bride and groom’s closest family and friends are staying at the Villa but accommodations nearby will allow for a relaxing weekend. We recommend booking accommodations 4-6 months before the wedding weekend. Here are a few that are very close to Le Filigare but others can be found on Google Maps when you search Le Filigare and start exploring nearby.
Recommended rental car options:
Renting a car in Italy isn’t as scary as it seems! Italians drive fast, but efficient. You will need an Italian license, an International Driving Permit (IDP), that can be obtained at any AAA office. You will need to carry your regular US license with you in addition to the International Driving Permit (IDP). The cost of this is around $20 and it is valid for 1 year. Automatic cars aren’t as popular in Europe but are still available to rent. Make sure to specify that when booking. We recommend the following companies:
SIXT
Europcar
Avis/Budget
Hertz
